February 1, 2017
February is the month dedicated to the Holy Family. February gives us a space of time between the Christmas celebrations and the increased focus on Jesus’s public life and ministry, which occurs in Lent. It is a transition from the feast of Christmas to the fasting of Lent. Therefore, traditionally February has become a time to recall the Holy Family; within the Holy Family is where Jesus spent the time between his birth and embarking on his public journey. We will be offering our February prayer up for the families of our fifth graders. We would like our fifth graders to bring in pictures of their family members so we can display them on our bulletin board.
Pope Francis recited this Prayer to the Holy Family
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, in you we contemplate the splendor of true love,
to you we turn with trust. Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that our families
too may be places of communion and prayer, authentic schools of the
Gospel and small domestic Churches. Holy Family of Nazareth, may
families never again experience violence, rejection and division: may all
who have been hurt and scandalized find ready comfort and healing. Holy
Family of Nazareth, make us once more mindful of the sacredness and
inviolability of the family, and its beauty in God’s plan. Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
graciously hear our prayer.
Student Council will begin selling candy grams beginning January 30. For one dollar, students can send a Valentine lollipop with a special message to a sibling, friend, teacher or parent, for example. Parents may also send candy grams to their children. Send a sealed envelope with money and a message you want delivered to your child. Lollipops will be delivered next Friday, February 10th.

Re-enrollment packets have been sent home with each student today. If you re-enroll your child beginning tomorrow until this Friday, February 3rd, you will not need to pay a registration fee. The fee for one child is $50.00 and $100.00 per family. This offer is only for students enrolled in our school now and not for new enrollees.
Fifth Grade Parents: Our class has been diligently working on the study of Native American tribes. They have done extensive research in the computer lab to record notes on the many facets of their regional tribes. I am sure you are aware that we are currently creating posters, homes, and replicas of four main regional native groups in North America. Next week, we will be hosting a Native American Exhibit. Please, join us on Wednesday, February 8. You are invited to join us and peruse the various displays. Our exhibit will be open from 9:30-11:20 and 12:15-2:15. Looking forward to seeing you. Take care and God Bless! Mrs. Thomas
Remember to return the baby bottles that were sent home last week by February 10th.

A message from Mr. Kevin Miller: Hello Band Parents–This year she will be hosting Becahi’s Annual Little Hawk Band Festival on Wednesday, February 15th. Families with students in 7th and 8th grade can register for this free band experience using the link below: www.tinyurl.com/littlehawkbandfestival
Please check your FACTS account to see how many Angel Points you have accrued. Those of you who have reached 30 points do not need to sign he chart anymore; however, we do appreciate your continued support. There are twenty-one families who have not earned any points or very few. Each point is worth $10. Rather than paying for those points, why not put in time helping out at our Tricky tray?
Full payment for the Gertrude Hawk candy bar fundraiser is due on February 20th.
